FBRJ

Faith Bible Reading Journey

WHAT: The Faith Bible Reading Journey (FBRJ) is a challenge to read through the entire Bible in two years. Pastor Biermann and other leaders of Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc, MI are introducing the weekly readings with a brief overview (historical context, Law & Gospel themes, application starters, and prayer starters) that is presented either live in Faith’s sanctuary or via livestream accessed at www.faithgb.org

Another key element important to the success of this plan is mutual accountability. Every participant is encouraged to have at least one other person outside of his/her own household who will keep him/her accountable to complete the readings and share insights. Ideally, participants will join a live or virtual small group to encourage accountability and growth. To join such a group, please put in a request on the FBRJ facebook page through the button at the top of the page or contact Pastor Scott at rscott@faithgb.org

WHEN: The official start of the two year reading program began Sunday, January 3rd, 2021 with Pastor Biermann’s initial presentation live in Faith’s sanctuary and live-streamed through www.faithgb.org. Pastor Biermann or another leader continue to present an overview of material for the following week’s readings each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. They will continue this for the entire two years. You can start the journey any time during the two years and archives of previous presentations and downloadable PDF pages are available below.

Daily reading, according to the schedule provided, may be completed as chosen by each participant and should take about 15 to 30 minutes per day, Monday through Saturday. Participants do NOT have to read every word every day. They can skim or skip parts to keep up or catch up. The key is to not give up, but stay in the Word.

WHO: Anyone and everyone is invited to take part in FBRJ. No age or place limit. Due to worldwide internet access, we encourage participants to invite friends, family and contacts from around the globe to join them in the journey. The more we have involved, the more we’ll gain from the insights the Holy Spirit will provide through each participant. To find out more about participation, please contact Pastor Scott at rscott@faithgb.org or the church office at churchoffice@faithgb.org

WHERE: Go to the Facebook group “Faith Bible Reading Journey” at
https://www.facebook.com/groups/FaithBibleReadingJourney to see the daily reading assignments, hear helpful suggestions, connect with others for accountability, share insights and ask questions. It will also be possible to download the weekly overview pages from this Facebook page or from www.faithgb.org. To join a live or virtual accountability small group, please put in a request on the FBRJ Facebook page or contact Pastor Scott at rscott@faithgb.org.

WHY: “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” (Exodus 20:8) Jesus says, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me….” (John 5:39) Jesus also says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” (John 5:24) “For the word of God is living and active, …” (Heb. 4:12) As we read the Word of God daily, it will actively strengthen our faith, increase our hope and joy, inspire our walk with Jesus, improve all our relationships and keep us on the path of eternal life. As we hold each other accountable to such daily reading we will resist the Devil’s temptation to ignore God’s Word and we will grow in Jesus and His joyous blessings together.
